FAQ

What is the fide-Test?

The official Swiss language certificate for immigration procedures and naturalisation. It tests speaking and listening (oral) plus reading and writing (written) and certifies the level you reach in the Sprachenpass. There is no "fail".

Which level do I need?

B permit: oral A1, nothing written. C permit: usually oral A2 and written A1. Early C permit and naturalisation: oral B1 and written A2. Cantons may ask for more.

Is French available?

The exam language is German for now; French follows. The interface is available in German and English.

What does "fair use" mean exactly?

A speaking simulation is a real conversation with an AI examiner and costs us money every time it runs. So: 3 full simulations (19 min) and 6 short ones (7 min) a day. The exam simulation contains a full speaking part and therefore counts as a full simulation. Reading, listening, writing, the exam modules and all your reports are unlimited. With exceptionally heavy use across the 6 months we pause only the full simulations and tell you so politely — everything else stays open, and we will open that back up on request too.
